Starting from Kalpitiya’s windswept coastlines and dolphin-rich waters, this adventure weaves through the primeval forests of Wilpattu, the sacred stupas of Anuradhapura, and the mystical ruins of Ritigala. Trek jungle paths once trodden by monks and kings, marvel at the majesty of Sigiriya’s sky citadel, and stand in awe before Dambulla’s golden caves. The tour concludes with the cultural treasures of Polonnaruwa and a serene coastal farewell in Negombo.

Day 01 – Arrival in Kalpitiya

Upon arrival, transfer to the tranquil coastal town of Kalpitiya and settle into your beachfront eco-lodge or boutique resort. Spend the morning relaxing by the sea or exploring the quiet beaches nearby. In the afternoon, guests may enjoy an optional dolphin-watching boat excursion, available seasonally, taking in the pristine waters and abundant marine life. As the sun sets over the Indian Ocean, unwind with the gentle coastal breeze and overnight stay is arranged in Kalpitiya.

Day 02 – Kalpitiya to Wilpattu National Park

After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely morning or partake in lagoon kayaking before transferring to Wilpattu, Sri Lanka’s largest and oldest national park. Embark on an evening safari through the forest-lined lakes, sandy tracks, and scrub jungles, keeping an eye out for leopards, elephants, and a wide array of bird species. The day closes with a relaxing dinner and overnight stay at a luxury tented safari camp near the park, surrounded by the sounds of the wild.

Day 03 – Wilpattu Safari & Anuradhapura Exploration

Rise early for a sunrise game drive in Wilpattu, where the park’s elusive leopards, elephants, and sloth bears make for unforgettable sightings. Following the safari, transfer to Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka’s first ancient capital. Explore the city’s UNESCO World Heritage sites including the sacred Sri Maha Bodhi tree, the Ruwanwelisaya stupa, and the historic Isurumuniya temple, gaining insight into the island’s Buddhist heritage. Overnight stay is arranged near Anuradhapura’s sacred city.

Day 04 – Transfer to Habarana via Mihintale

Begin the day with a visit to Mihintale, known as the cradle of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, where you can admire ancient stupas and climb to serene hilltop shrines. Continue to Habarana, stopping en route for a traditional village lunch if desired. Spend the evening at leisure or enjoy a guided nature walk along Habarana Lake, taking in the calm waters and surrounding forest. Overnight stay is arranged at a comfortable lodge in Habarana.

Day 05 – Trek Ritigala & Explore Sigiriya

Set out early for a trek to Ritigala Monastery, an ancient site shrouded in jungle and folklore, offering quiet paths and hidden ruins to discover. In the afternoon, climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress, the iconic Lion Rock, and marvel at the frescoes, water gardens, and panoramic views from the summit. Return to your lodge near Sigiriya for a peaceful evening immersed in nature, with overnight stay included.

Day 06 – Dambulla Caves & Polonnaruwa Ruins

Visit the Dambulla Cave Temples in the morning, admiring their golden Buddha statues and intricate murals. Continue to Polonnaruwa for a guided tour of the medieval capital, exploring the Gal Vihara, Royal Palace, Parakrama Samudra, and ancient bathing pools. After a full day of history and culture, return to your lodge in the Sigiriya/Dambulla area for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 07 – Transfer to Negombo

Depart early for the scenic drive back to Sri Lanka’s west coast, with optional stops at a local crafts village or a spice garden to experience regional traditions. Upon arrival in Negombo, check into a beachside hotel and spend the afternoon relaxing by the sea or strolling along the shoreline. Evening at leisure with dinner at the resort and overnight stay in Negombo.  

Day 08 – Departure Day

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and a final morning on the coast before your transfer to the airport for departure, taking with you memories of wildlife, culture, and the untamed beauty of Sri Lanka.
