Embark on a 12-day spiritual and cultural journey through Sri Lanka’s sacred heartland, tracing the footsteps of emperors, monks, and pilgrims across centuries of devotion and heritage. From the serene stupas and reservoirs of Anuradhapura to the misty meditation retreats of Mihintale and Ritigala, travelers will explore grand dagobas, rock-carved Buddhas, cave temples, and royal capitals. The route weaves together ancient capitals, sacred shrines, and cultural experiences, offering both reflection and discovery in the timeless landscapes of Ceylon. This pilgrimage invites spiritual seekers and heritage enthusiasts to connect with the island’s enduring legacy of faith, wisdom, and artistry.

Day 01 – Arrival in Colombo

Guests are welcomed at the airport and transferred to their hotel, with an optional visit to Gangaramaya Temple. Relax and prepare for the cultural journey ahead. Overnight stay is in Colombo.

Day 02 – Colombo to Anuradhapura

Travel to Sri Lanka’s first kingdom and explore the sacred city, visiting Sri Maha Bodhi, Ruwanwelisaya, Thuparama, and Jetavanaramaya. Discover ancient monastic ruins and reservoirs that reflect the ingenuity of early Sinhalese civilization. Overnight stay is in Anuradhapura.

Day 03 – Anuradhapura, Mihintale, and Ritigala

Start with an early morning visit to Mihintale, considered the cradle of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, climbing the meditation steps and exploring the stupa complex. In the afternoon, venture into the mystical Ritigala Forest Monastery and soak in the serene surroundings. Return to Anuradhapura for overnight stay.

Day 04 – Anuradhapura to Aukana and Polonnaruwa

Visit the majestic Aukana Buddha Statue, a masterful rock carving, before continuing to the medieval city of Polonnaruwa. Explore Gal Vihara, the Royal Palace, and the sacred quadrangle, immersing in the grandeur of a bygone era. Overnight stay is in Polonnaruwa.

Day 05 – Polonnaruwa to Dambulla

Journey south to the Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Marvel at over 150 Buddha statues and vivid murals, and spend a reflective evening in this historic pilgrimage destination. Overnight stay is in Dambulla.

Day 06 – Dambulla to Sigiriya and Kandy

Optional early morning climb of Sigiriya Rock Fortress, followed by a transfer to Kandy, the cultural capital of Sri Lanka. Visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and witness evening rituals, experiencing the spiritual heartbeat of the city. Overnight stay is in Kandy.

Day 07 – Kandy Spiritual Sites

Explore Lankatilaka Vihara and Gadaladeniya Temple, and visit the Bahirawakanda Buddha Statue and meditation centres. Optional cultural show or a quiet riverside walk provides a chance for reflection. Overnight stay is in Kandy.

Day 08 – Kandy to Mahiyanganaya

Drive through scenic landscapes to Mahiyanganaya, home to one of Sri Lanka’s oldest Buddhist shrines, the Mahiyangana Raja Maha Vihara. Optionally visit the local Vedda community for cultural insights. Overnight stay is in Mahiyanganaya.                        

Day 09 – Mahiyanganaya to Kelaniya and Colombo

Travel to Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara, associated with Lord Buddha’s third visit to Lanka. Reflect at the ancient stupa and sacred Bodhi tree before returning to Colombo for overnight stay.

Day 10 – Colombo Sacred Trail

Explore the interfaith and colonial history at Wolvendaal Church, Seema Malaka, and Independence Square Buddhist memorials. Free time in Pettah or leisure at the hotel. Overnight stay is in Colombo.

Day 11 – Free Day / Optional Visits

Optional excursions to Kalaniya Temple or local spiritual retreats. Leisure time allows for shopping or relaxation, followed by a farewell dinner with traditional Kandyan music if desired. Overnight stay is in Colombo.

Day 12 – Departure

Transfer to the airport for onward flights, concluding the pilgrimage through Sri Lanka’s sacred landscapes.
